On 6 April at the Sorbonne University of Paris a world-famous debate on the nature of time took place among Bergson, Einstein and other philosophers and scientists, that still represents a cornerstone in the field. Scholars usually agree that, despite Bergson surely misunderstood many important points of Einstein’s theory, his ideas are worth being considered much more carefully than physics are used to do. Nonetheless, so far nobody has yet made it clear which ones precisely of Bergson’s ideas should be considered correct, and, above all, why. The present paper is an attempt to answer these questions.
